About the College
- Lady Reading Health School (LRHS) is one of the oldest nursing/health-visitor/ANM-training institutes in Delhi, established in 1918.
- It was originally started to train “Lady Health Visitors / midwives / health-workers” and over decades has adapted to changing public-health needs.
- Today, LRHS focuses primarily on the diploma-level course Auxiliary Nurse & Midwife (ANM) — a two-year programme.
- The school is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), Government of India — i.e. it is a public/government-run institute.
- For decades, LRHS has been a key institution for primary-health / community-health nursing training in Delhi: ANM certificate holders from LRHS work as grassroots-level health workers, community-nurses, MCH (maternal/child-health) workers, etc.
